Poly(ionic liquid)‐Armored MXene Membrane: Interlayer Engineering for Facilitated Water Transport

نویسندگان

چکیده

Two-dimensional (2D) MXene-based lamellar membranes bearing interlayers of tunable hydrophilicity are promising for high-performance water purification. The current challenge lies in how to engineer the pore wall's surface properties subnano-confinement environment while ensuring its high selectivity. Herein, poly(ionic liquid)s, equipped with readily exchangeable counter anions, succeeded as a modifier addressing this issue. Lamellar nanochannels tailorable constructed via assembly liquid)-armored MXene nanosheets. By shifting interlayer galleries from being hydrophilic more hydrophobic simple anion exchange, membrane performs drastically better both permeance (by two-fold improvement) and rejection (≈99 %). This facile method opens up new avenue building 2D material-based enhancing molecular transport sieving effect.

Progress of Membrane Engineering for Water Treatment

Together with the supply of energy and the environmental protection, fresh water is one of the three keys elements for the sustainable development of every society. Where the availability of water cannot be carried out by using conventional sources, unavoidable appears the resort of the major water source: the sea. Today, RO is one the most used membrane processes for the production of fresh wa...

Pressure-induced shear and interlayer expansion in Ti3C2 MXene in the presence of water

Pseudo-negative compressibility in layered materials is a phenomenon typically limited to in situ high-pressure experiments in some clay minerals and carbon-based materials. We show that the MXene Ti3C2T x expands along its crystallographic c direction when compressed in the presence of H2O. This expansive effect occurs when a mixture of powders and excess water is quasi-hydrostatically compres...

Superfund Ground Water Issue: Facilitated Transport

Idealized laboratory experiments reported in the literature have been designed to simulate specific physical and chemical conditions. These laboratory conditions have allowed researchers to control the variables which affect the behavior of contaminants in the subsurface and to identify the mechanisms which are likely to occur in the field. An understanding of the various mechanisms of facilita...
